Not so long ago, plenty of people insisted Porsche would never electrify its iconic 911 - yet here we are, with another milestone added to this model’s long-running story.
AutoTopNL puts the Porsche 911 GTS Cabriolet on the Autobahn
The team behind the AutoTopNL YouTube channel got their hands on one of the early cars and, naturally, headed straight for a stretch of German motorway - the famous Autobahn - where there’s no speed limit.
Performance figures for the hybrid Porsche 911: 541 cv, 3.1s and 312 km/h
With a combined maximum output of 541 cv from the hybrid system, Porsche quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1s and a top speed of 312 km/h for the 911 GTS Cabriolet featured in the video.
Flat-six character, with electric assistance
The Porsche 911’s 3.6-litre flat-six gains sharper responsiveness thanks to the electric side of the system. Even so, it still pulls cleanly to 7500 rpm - and it still sounds like a proper Porsche 911.
In the footage, the speedometer climbs to 320 km/h, tearing through Autobahn kilometres with the sun straight ahead in an almost picture-perfect scene. Time to watch it one more time…
