Forthing S7 launches in Portugal as a new all-electric saloon

Following its official unveiling at the end of last year, Forthing is now formally starting operations in Portugal with the arrival of the new S7. This all-electric saloon stands out for its sleek, flowing bodywork in a fastback style.

Forthing S7 design and aerodynamics

At 4.936 m long and 1.5 m tall-slightly smaller than a Volkswagen ID.7-the S7 still sits firmly in the large-saloon class. Where it really sets itself apart from rivals is aerodynamics: its Cx is just 0.191, the lowest on the market, which should help to reduce energy use.

Battery, range and charging

Despite its generous footprint, the Forthing S7 reaches Portugal with a relatively modest LFP battery, with a capacity of only 56.8 kWh. It claims a 420 km range (WLTP combined cycle) and an efficiency figure of 15.8 kWh/100 km. In urban driving, the quoted range rises to as much as 581 km.

Performance and drivetrain

The Forthing S7 is fitted with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 154 kW (209 cv) and 310 Nm of torque. With rear-wheel drive, it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8s.

When it comes to charging, a peak 120 kW DC rate takes the battery from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes. Using a home charger, the 6.6 kW AC onboard charging means a full 0–100% charge may take around nine hours.

Cabin technology and pricing in Portugal

Inside, the Forthing S7 offers what the brand describes as a minimalist, tech-focused environment. That approach is reinforced by the digital displays: an 8.8” instrument screen and a 14.6” central touchscreen.

In Portugal, the Forthing S7 is offered in a single trim level, with an expected price below €45,000. Buyers can choose from five exterior colours and two interior themes.

Electric mobility and multi-energy

Pedro Galvão, Managing Director of Forthing Portugal, highlights the brand’s purpose: “We want to democratise access to electric mobility, without compromises. The S7 is the first step in a broader, more diversified strategy.”

Forthing will soon roll out a wide-ranging line-up including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric and even LPG combustion options, aiming to meet the varied needs of Portuguese customers.

The Chinese brand enters the national market backed by Solmotor, a company within the Auto-Industrial Group, which will take responsibility for Forthing’s importing, distribution and aftersales support in Portugal.
