Uber, Nuro and the Lucid Gravity robotaxi unveiled at CES 2026
A release towards the end of 2026? Appearing this Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, Uber revealed its next robotaxi, developed in partnership with Nuro. The US company is making its intentions clear and is showing off the cabin of a vehicle presented as a genuine showcase of technology. Here is an overview.
Sensors and exterior signalling built into the Lucid Gravity
This robotaxi features a next-generation sensor suite, combining high-resolution cameras, solid-state lidar sensors and radars to deliver 360° perception. These components are integrated into the bodywork of the Lucid Gravity, improving visibility while keeping the vehicle’s design intact.
It also includes LEDs around a halo, helping passengers spot the vehicle easily and giving them clear information about the ride’s status and the upcoming pick-up when it arrives.

Passenger comfort is not treated as an afterthought. On board, customers can adjust heated seats and climate control, and they can also contact support or request the vehicle to stop.
Passengers can additionally see, in real time, what the robotaxi detects and the route it plans to take - including yielding to pedestrians and slowing at traffic lights.
The system is built around substantial computing power, with the robotaxi relying on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor, itself connected to the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform. Nuro says this setup is designed to ensure an advanced level of autonomous driving.
Quoted for the occasion, Sarfraz Maredia, Uber’s Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery, had high praise for the programme:
"Uber is proud to partner with Lucid and Nuro to bring a cutting-edge robotaxi to market by the end of the year. By combining our world-class expertise in electric vehicles, autonomous driving and ridesharing, we are creating a unique new solution for affordable, scalable autonomous trips in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond."
Uber is positioning this Lucid AV as its “most luxurious robotaxi in the industry”. Pricing has not been disclosed, but it is likely to be expensive, given the Lucid Gravity already costs 80,000 dollars in its non-autonomous version. Finally, it is worth noting that the US firm already has around a dozen autonomous-vehicle projects, including one with Waymo. In any case, it will be interesting to track how this initiative progresses and whether it becomes reality during 2026.
