Bugatti Tourbillon prototype spotted in the Croatian snow

Social media has been buzzing with photos showing a Bugatti Tourbillon prototype buried in snow somewhere in Croatia.

There’s no indication it ran off the road, but the amount of snow sitting on the hypercar suggests it had been standing still in the same spot for quite some time. In other images, someone appears with a shovel, helping to dig the Tourbillon out.

What’s happening: VP1 winter testing for the Bugatti Tourbillon

So what’s the story? The Bugatti Tourbillon is still under development - the first customer cars are only expected to be delivered at some point in 2026 - and what we’re seeing is a test mule (identified as VP1) being put through its paces in the harsh Croatian winter.

Mate Rimac driving the Bugatti Tourbillon

Some may be surprised to see Mate Rimac at the wheel of the prototype, as shown in the post above, but the Bugatti Rimac CEO has always taken a very hands-on role with the machines his team creates.

He didn’t hesitate to drive the Tourbillon in conditions that would suit a 4x4 far better than a V16 “monster” with 1800 cv, with prices starting at €3.8 million (excluding taxes).

Rimac Nevera accompaniment and winter-tyre struggles

The Tourbillon is also being accompanied by a Rimac Nevera and, even on winter tyres, it’s clear how hard it is for these hypercars to hold the correct line.
